World number 31 Tommy Paul commented on the victory over Rafael Nadal in the second round of the Masters in Paris (3:6, 7:6, 6:1). The American played a set and a break.
This is probably my best win. I was very charged for this match, because it is always interesting to play with someone from the Big Three. I play with him only the second time, but the first time I was very nervous. Strange, but this time I was not nervous. I was quite calm before entering the court and the day before. I think it had an effect. I played well. He took the first set, but I think I played pretty well from the start.
When I served the first ball, in my opinion, I played well. I enjoyed it immensely. I probably showed the best tennis in the last three months. I know that I did not have a very successful European tournament, so I really wanted to win.
Now Paul will compete with Pablo Carreno-Busta.
