Oscar Piastri and Pierre Gasly will compete for their new teams at the Abu Dhabi Tests. The tests will take place the week following the end of the season. A dispute arose between McLaren and Alpin regarding Piastri`s contractual obligations, which was decided in court in favor of the British team.
Piastri will play for McLaren next season alongside Lando Norris. In Alpin, after the departure of Fernando Alonso and the failure with Piastri, they decided to invite Pierre Gasly to the team.
McLaren, Alpin and Alpha Tauri have agreed among themselves not to interfere with the transitions and to allow riders to prepare with their new teams for the 2023 season this year.
