Hakan Calhanoglu faces disqualification in the Inter ultras case. Let us remind you that on September 30, 19 people were arrested on suspicion of extortion and other crimes, including several members of the Inter and Milan ultras. Most of those arrested are linked to mafia families from Calabria and are believed to have committed serious crimes related to the football business, including extorting money from ticket and drink sales at the San Siro and accepting bribes from renting parking spaces at the stadium, as well as using mafia methods. In October, Calhanoglu was questioned in the case as a witness. The investigation confirmed that Inter midfielder and team coach Simone Inzaghi communicated with Marco Ferdico, one of the arrested ultras, regarding the distribution of additional tickets for the 2023 Champions League final against Manchester City.
According to Tuttosport, during interrogation, Calhanoglu confirmed his connections with Ferdico, taking full responsibility. The Inter midfielder said that he communicated with the ultras representative on his own behalf, regardless of the interests of the club.
It is reported that the Turkish midfielder faces a heavy fine and a 2-3 match by handball tips ban for violating Article 25 of the Sports Justice Code.
