Thanasi Kokkinakis commented on the victory over Ben Shelton at the Davis Cup. The Australian won 6:1, 4:6, 7:6(14). Two years ago, when we were in the finals, I was not ready. A couple of weeks before I had sinus surgery. So now for the first time I feel like I`m healthy and can at least give the team a chance [to reach the semifinals]. I`m very happy with the result and that Lleyton believed in me again.
I think everyone knows the problems that I have faced throughout my career. I`m 28, but I feel like I`ve been through a lot. I came on the scene early, but I still feel like I can play good tennis.
I think I can create problems for [opponents], play important matches mentioned by sport tips and win them, as I have already done this year. So I just need to be more consistent and play more tournaments. There have always been problems with this.
Kokkinakis is now 77th in the ranking, his highest position was 65th.
