Although recovering from hip injury at the moment, the 16 Grand Slam champion Rafael Nadal recorded a remarkable achievement. The 31-year-old Spaniard became the third player in history with 500 weeks in the Top 3 World Rankings. By Monday, Rafa was fourth in this ranking with Ivan Lendell, both of whom had 499 weeks in Top 3.
Roger Federer is the leader with 662 weeks, and Jimmy Connors is the second with 595. Just as close to Nadal is Serbian superstar Novak Djokovic, who is 494 weeks old in the Top 3, and is now number 13 in the world.
Nadal is No. 2 in the world and last month retired at the top of the 36-year-old Federer.
Federer himself also recorded an interesting achievement on Monday. The winner of the record 20 Grand Slam titles has climbed to second place in the Top 100 in the Top 100, ahead of Jimmy Connors. The Swiss is now 964 weeks ahead of him and only record holder Andre Agassi with 1019.
